    Bill Bailey

Byline: Interview by Stephanie Smith                             replica clothing                                          Stand-up comedian and classical musician Bill Bailey is bringing two of his loves together for a series of shows looking at the work of the orchestra. The 45-year-old veteran of 'QI' and 'Never Mind The Buzzcocks' is also keen on British wildlife.                              My personal style can be encapsulated in one word: comfy. I can't bear anything too tight, and as I seem to have an abnormally high body temperature I can't wear too much. I much prefer short-sleeved shirts and T-shirts, even in winter.                              I'm obsessed with people wearing the correct footwear at all times. It's the most important part of an outfit for me. I love Etnies skater shoes. I've got a whole range from tartan to white but for a smart night out I've got my Patrick Cox black brogues and, for hiking, some Mammuts.                                           I fantasise about having some handmade Lobb boots as I've got one foot slightly bigger than the other. I'd say my right foot's a nine and my left one's nine and a half, so one shoes is always slightly tight.                              Guys in deck shoes and no socks give me the creeps. It's those little rope bits along the side that are particularly horrible.                              My jeans have got to have a little touch that marks me out as an individual. I like to see a bit of coloured stitching, a button in the wrong place, something that stands out from all the other jeans. classic I had a one of these gone walkabout, now I just stick cheap fakes the airport.                              I've got better at shopping over the years. The key is to go to a department store where there are lots of different ranges, realise you're not going to buy any Tommy Hilfiger, narrow it down to what you like and stay focused.                                     I spent [pounds sterling]1,500 on a Prada tux that I've wholesale colthing worn once. I bought it when I won a British Comedy Award ten years ago, and it probably won't come out again unless I win something else. I'll probably hand it down to my son, Dax.                              I've got a purple Gucci suit that makes me look like a pimp. I must have bought it in low light - I honestly thought it was grey until I got it home. All it needs is white boots and a fedora and I could expand my repertoire into dodgy record producer or bisexual Dutch bar owner.                              I have a horrific image of myself in the Eighties wearing a cavalry shirt and tight jeans, complete with floppy hair. The shirt had poppers all the way down and you had to leave a certain number undone - so revealing your chest - to indicate you were cool.                              I've started buying cheap jewellery and watches because I lose so much. I often buy silver rings to remind myself of places I've been, but it's too painful to buy decent, expensive stuff.                              Outdoor shops have some great clothes in them. I've got a Barbour duffel coat that's like a blanket, sleeping bag and jacket all wrapped up in one.                              I like tattoos but I'm too hairy to have one. I've spent lots of time pondering what I'd go for, probably a woodland scene with sprites and satyrs, possibly a Matisse painting or
embroidered patches two kittens in a brandy glass.                              My iPhone was too distracting, so I'm sticking with a BlackBerry Bold. I just found all those apps were calling to me. I'd think I'll just have a quick go at the golf game and it was half a day wasted.                              Interview by Stephanie Smith                              'Bill Bailey's Remarkable Guide To The Orchestra' to
