Nissan Motorsports Continues Its Contingency Award

GARDENA, Calif. -- Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) has announced that more than $125,000 will be available to Nissan, Datsun and Infiniti professional and amateur racers under its 2006 Contingency Awards Program. The Contingency Awards Program includes seven sanctioning bodies or competition series: Championship Off-Road Racing (CORR), Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), Grand Am Cup, Grand Am Rolex Series, National Hot Rod Association (NHRA), National Auto Sport Association (NASA) and the World Drift Championship.                                                                  "Nissan has always believed in creating a partnership between the company and the dedicated teams who compete in our vehicles," said Nissan Motorsports Marketing and Operations Senior Manager Ron Stukenberg. "At Nissan Motorsports, we support our products not only with a full catalog of competition parts, but see to it that our drivers and teams are rewarded for winning at various levels of competition."                          Nissan's 2006 Contingency Awards Program covers both Nissan and Datsun badged cars and trucks, as well as the Infiniti G35. Award-eligible drivers or teams must be registered with Nissan Motorsports and must display official current "Nissan" logo and "NISMO" (Nissan Motorsports, International) die-cuts on designated areas of the car or truck during all race events. The drivers' race suits must also display a current Nissan patch on the upper chest.                          "We're looking forward to another highly competitive year in all Motorsports venues, including the Sports Car Club of America and Championship Off-Road Racing," said Stukenberg. "Last season, Nissan increased its record total of SCCA National Runoffs National Championships to 87, well ahead of every other manufacturer, and in CORR in 2005, both Nissan and driver Chad Hord narrowly missed bringing home season championship titles in the Pro-Lite Division."                       Richard Mille Fake                       For SCCA in 2006, Nissan contingency awards range from $150 to $500 during the season and up to a $5,000 payout for a National Championship in Grand Touring (GT), Showroom Stock (SS), Production or Touring classes at the National Runoffs. Nissan drivers competing in The SPEED World Challenge, SCCA's premier racing series, are eligible for $3,000 victory awards in both the Grand Touring (GT) and Touring Classes, with year-end Drivers' Points Champions receiving $5,000.                          Awards in SCCA's Pro-Solo Division Stock, Street Prepared, Street Touring, Prepared and Street Modified classes range from $100 to $500 (National Champions).                          Contingency awards for CORR, arguably the largest and most watched off-road racing series in North America, range from $250 all the way up to $5,000 for the season's Driver's Champion.                          For the Grand Am Cup Series, any Nissan or Infiniti driver winning a race in the Grand Sport (GS) or Sport Touring Class (ST) receives $2,000, with an additional $1,000 given to the winner of the January Daytona race. The winner of the overall Driver's Championship walks away with a $3,000 bonus.                          Other major awards include: Grand Am Rolex Series - $5,000 first-in-class, $10,000 Driver's Championship, $10,000 first-in-class at the annual Daytona Rolex 24-Hour Race; NHRA Sport Compact Drag Racing - $50 to $300; NASA SE-R Cup (SR Class) - $1,000 for National Champion (crowned at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in September); and World Drift Championship - $200 - $1,000.                          Along with Nissan's Contingency Awards Program, Nissan's 2006 Grassroots Racing Parts Program offers special pricing on Nissan Motorsports competition parts to participants signed up for the contingency program. The Grassroots Program requires conformance to Nissan Motorsports Contingency Awards Program guidel
